Physical therapy assistants have long been known for their strength and endurance when it comes to pedaling on a bike or treadmill. Now, the professional field of physical therapy has made strides in making it possible for members to work on laptops while maintaining the same level of exercise intensity. While there are some limitations with this approach, laptop-based PT can be an effective way to provide rehabilitative care to patients who cannot travel to receive treatment in-person.
When using a laptop as your stationary bike or treadmill, there are several things you will want to note. First and foremost is how much weight you can handle on the machine before getting too fatigued. Second is the size and shape of your computer screen \u2013 if it doesn\u2019t fit within a comfortable viewing distance, you may need toposition yourself closer to the machine. Finally, keep in mind that any vigorous activity \u2013 such as cycling or running \u2013 should only be done for short periods of time at a time; overdoing it can lead to unnecessary fatigue and injury down the road.
