Crysis is a first-person shooter video game developed by Crytek and published by Electronic Arts. It was released in November 2007 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360, and in February 2008 for PlayStation 3. The game is based on the Farcry engine, which has been modified to allow the player to destroy objects and alter the environment.
Crysis is set in 2019 on a fictional island near the coast of Korea, where a team of United States Army Delta Force soldiers are sent to investigate reports of an alien spacecraft that has crash-landed. The player assumes the role of U.S. Army Delta Force soldier Jake Dunn, who fights his way through an infected city as he tries to uncover the truth behind what happened on the island.
The gameplay consists of infantry combat against North Korean forces and aliens, vehicular warfare across land, air and sea, stealth missions involving assassination or infiltration, and large-scale battles between American forces and North Koreans or aliens. The player can use a variety of weapons including firearms, explosives, knives, grenades, vehicles such as tanks or helicopters; as well as Nanosuits which enhance strength, speed or armor abilities depending on which mode is active when they are equipped..
Crysis also offers some non-violent options such as hacking terminals or remotely controlling devices using your nanosuit’s “Optic Camouflage” mode – turning you into an invincible invisible ghost (at least until someone sees you). You can even take over enemy turrets to turn them against their own comrades! While there are only 8 main levels in Crysis (plus 4 ‘optional’ side missions), each one will take several hours to complete – so there’s plenty of content here!
