One of the fun aspects of playing video games is being able to change your name. From Crusher Joe in Rocket League to Corrin in Fire Emblem, players have a sense of ownership over their digital avatars. However, changing your name in The Walking Dead Collection can be a lot more complicated than simply inputting a new moniker into your game profile.
First and foremost, make sure you have an appropriate copy of the game installed on your computer or console. If you’re playing on PC, you’ll need either the retail or season pass version of The Walking Dead Collection; if you’re playing on PS4 or Xbox One, you’ll only need the base game. Once that’s taken care of, head to “options” and select “account.” At this point, input your desired username (which should already be pre-populated), and hit “save.” You’re now good to go!
However \u2013 there are some limitations to changing your name within The Walking Dead Collection. First and foremost is that character names must be between 3-10 letters long and cannot contain any spaces. Secondly, given that each player accounts for one unique username across all platforms they own (for example: myusername1 on PlayStation 4 vs myusername2 on Xbox One), any additional characters placed between account profiles (e.g.: myusername3) will cause issues with connecting onlineimmediately resulting in being directed back to the login screen once initially loaded onto another platform.(source: SRK) As such \u2013 it would behoove players intending to take advantage of this feature during their playthroughs to come up with creative monikers that do not include any forbidden characters – e.g.: Robert Kirkman instead of just Rob
