Shooting and Passing
To shoot, line up at one of the three shooting spots on the court. Raise your hand to shoulder height and take a deep breath. When you exhale, let go of the ball with your non-shooting hand. You should be able to keep your arm extended while still holding onto the ball with your shooting hand. If necessary, use your free hand to guide the ball into position. Bend your knees slightly and lift your chest as you release the shot.
To pass, move towards an open teammate who is positioned near either end of the key (near half-court). When you reach him or her, look down and palm forward so that the passer can slip his/her arm through yours and receive the basketball. Keep both hands on top of each other throughout this exchange; don\u2019t drop either hand until after you\u2019ve released the basketball from between your palms [1].
Basketball blocking techniques are similar for both offense and defense [2]. Defensively, stay in front of your opponent by using a variety of body positioning (e.g., low stance). When defending against a jump shot, contest it by keeping both hands up in front of you [3].
