Today you can find the game in many ways. Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story is a role-playing video game for the Nintendo DS, and it was first released in 2009. As of March 31, 2014, 3.48 million copies have been sold worldwide.[1] Players take control of Mario and Luigi as they battle their way through Fawful’s Beanbean Kingdom with Bowser. The gameplay differs from the traditional style of Super Mario Bros., as this game puts an emphasis on puzzle solving and humor.
I think it’s fair to say that just about everyone who has ever played a video game has at least tried out Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story. After all, it’s one of those games that is simply hard to resist – even if you don’t particularly enjoy role-playing games (RPG), the promise of being able to play as everyone’s favorite villain-turned-ally, Bowser, is too good to pass up. And indeed, once you start playing you quickly realize that this isn’t your average RPG – it offers something truly unique and special that no other game can replicate (although its sequels come close). Sure enough, after release the game received critical acclaim across the board; reviews labeled it “hilarious yet full of heartwarming charm and immaculate polish”,[2] “a delightful adventure with surprises lurking around every bend in the road map”,[3] and “one of those games where almost everything comes together perfectly without any sacrifice along the way”.[4]
