There is no one definitive way to change your Hot Wheels Extreme Racing name. However, there are a few methods you can try.
One way to change your name is by editing the game files. To do this, you’ll need to access the game’s directory on your computer. The location of the directory will vary depending on your operating system:
Windows: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Hot Wheels Extreme Racing
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Hot Wheels Extreme Racing
Linux: ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Hot Wheels Extreme Racing
Once you’ve located the game’s directory, open the “config” folder and then edit the “name” file with a text editor such as Notepad or TextEdit. Change the name in this file to whatever you want, save it, and then exit out of the folder. Next, open Steam and click on “Library” in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click on “Hot Wheels Extreme Racing” in the list of games and then click on “Properties.” A new window will appear and under “Local Files,” click on “Browse Local Files.” This will open up a windows explorer window that shows all of the files associated with Hot Wheels Extreme Racing. Double-click on the “config” folder and then double-click onthe “name” file to make sure that it has been updated with your new name. Close out of all of these windows and restart Steam. Your new name should now be displayed when you play Hot Wheels Extreme Racing.
Another way to change your name is by using a third-party tool like GameRanger or Tunngle which allow you to join multiplayer games with other players online without having to host them yourself. Once you’ve joined a game session, type /name [new name] into chat (without quotes) where [new name] is replaced by whatever new name you want to use in-game. This will change your name for everyone else in that game session but not for yourself; To also change your own name in-game, type /setname [new name] into chat (again without quotes) where [new Name] is replaced by whatever new name you want to use instead
