If you’re looking for a way to scare your friends or family this Halloween, there are plenty of ways to do so. One popular option is to create your own backyard monster using items found around the house. Here are some tips on how to do just that:
1. Start by gathering materials needed for the costume. You’ll need a large sheet of paper, some tape, and something to make the head and body out of (a pillowcase or an old shirt will work).
2. Draw a basic outline of the creature on the sheet of paper. Be sure to include its arms and legs as well as any other features like horns or teeth you want it to have. Once you’ve drawn it out, cut out the pieces with tape and use them as templates for making the actual costume.
3. To make the head and body, take an old shirt or pillowcase and cut off both ends so that it’s in shape like a human-sized mask (the mouth should be about two thirds up from one end). Then, fold over one side so that it forms an “M” shape, then sew it closed using thread or staples (you can also glue it if desired). Make sure that when you’re sewing down the sides that you leave enough space at either end so that you can fit your creature’s horns inside (these can be made from cardboard tubes taped together). Finally, add any other features like eyes or teeth onto the mask before sealing everything up with tape or glue.
