Making a Rugrats: Time Travellers cake is not as hard as it may seem. The most important part of the cake is making sure that each layer is cooked evenly, so that the cake does not end up being lopsided.
The first step is to preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, take two 9-inch round baking pans and line them with parchment paper. Next, mix together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a medium bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of sugar, 3/4 cup of vegetable oil and 2 eggs until well combined. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center of the cakes. Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans and let cool completely on wire racks before frosting.
To make the frosting, beat together 1/2 cup of butter, 2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until light and fluffy. If desired, add food coloring to create your desired shade of green for Stu Pickles\u2019 shirt! Frost cooled cake layers and top with RUGRATS characters made out fondant (see instructions below). Enjoy!
