Mario Party 9 is a party video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii. It is the ninth installment in the Mario Party series, and was released in North America on March 11, 2012. The game features characters from the Mario franchise competing in a variety of minigames to win coins.

Mario Party 9 can be played with up to four players, who use Wii Remote controllers to control their characters. Players move around a board game environment, playing minigames to earn coins. These coins can then be used to buy items that can help them progress through the game or hinder their opponents. All but two of these minigames\u2014Shy Guy Says and Rhythm Rally 2\u2014can be played by any combination of players; Dueling Duos pits two teams of two players against each other while everyone else watches; and Bob-omb Blast is a cooperative multiplayer mode where players try to collect as many Bob-ombs as possible before time runs out.
