Tales of Monkey Island is an episodic graphic adventure video game developed and published by Telltale Games. The series follows the adventures of Guybrush Threepwood, a wannabe pirate, and his companions. The first episode was released on July 7, 2009 for Windows and Mac OS X platforms, with subsequent episodes released every month thereafter.
The game uses a modified version of Telltale’s own engine which allows players to switch between classic and remastered graphics on the fly. The WiiWare release features exclusively the remastered graphics whereas the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 releases feature both graphical options.
On November 17, 2009, Telltale announced that they were working on a cross-platform solution that would allow gamers to continue their saved games across multiple devices, including PC, Mac, iPhone/iPod Touch, iPad and Android devices. This was achieved through the use of cloud storage for saves with each device accessing the data as required. The service launched alongside Episode 2: “The Siege of Spinner Cay” on December 8 for iOS devices with subsequent releases for other platforms in January 2010.[1]
In March 2017 it was announced that Tales of Monkey Island would be coming to Nintendo Switch as part of its fifth anniversary celebration,[2] On September 12th 2018 it was announced that Tales of Monkey Island will also come to Playstation 4 & Xbox One as part of said celebration
