Pokemon FireRed has been adored by millions of gamers worldwide since its release in 2004. The game is a remake of the original Pokemon Red, and takes place in the fictional Kanto region. Players assume the role of a Trainer who must capture, battle, and train various creatures known as Pokemon in order to become the ultimate Pokemon master.
While FireRed may be over a decade old at this point, it’s still one of the most popular games around – thanks in no small part to its passionate fan base. So it’s no surprise that fans have been clamoring for a way to stream the game on Twitch.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy way to do so just yet. FireRed can only be streamed through unofficial methods at this time, such as using an emulator or screen recording software. However, there are several workarounds that you can try if you’re determined to stream your playthrough of FireRed on Twitch.
First things first: you’ll need an emulator if you want to stream FireRed on Twitch. There are many different emulators out there, but we recommend using RetroArch for best results (you can download it for free here). Once you’ve installed RetroArch, open it up and select ‘Load Game’. Navigate to where your copy of FireRed is stored on your computer and select ‘Start’. This will launch the game inside RetroArch – now all you need to do is start streaming!
To stream your playthrough of FireRed on Twitch, we recommend using OBS Studio (you can download it for free here). Open OBS Studio and create a new scene by clicking the ‘+’ icon in the top-left corner of the main window. name your scene whatever you like and then click ‘OK’. Next, right-click within your newly created scene and select ‘Add Source > Video Capture Device’. A new window will pop up; under ‘Name’, type in ‘Firered Twitch’ (or whatever you like) then click ‘OK’. You should see your video source appear below; double-click it to open its settings menu. set the resolution to 1920×1080 pixels (or whatever matches your target resolution) then click OK. Now all you need to do is start streaming!
