Super Mario Maker was a Wii U game released in September 2015. It allows players to create their own levels from the Super Mario series, and share them online. The game was well received by critics, who praised its creative potential.
On March 8th, 2019, Nintendo announced that Super Mario Maker 2 is in development for the Nintendo Switch. The game is set to be released in June 2019.
While there is no confirmation yet that Super Mario Maker will be coming back as a web app, it seems likely that it will be reintroduced in some form or another. This would allow players who do not have a Nintendo Switch to still enjoy creating and playing Super Mario levels.
