The Suffering is a horror video game developed by Surreal Software and published by Midway Games. It was released for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2004, and for Microsoft Windows in 2005. The game focuses on Torque, a death row inmate who is suffering from demonic possession, as he attempts to redeem himself while fighting off waves of monsters.
The Suffering has been generally well-received by critics, with praise directed at its fast-paced action, detailed graphics and gothic atmosphere. Some criticism has been leveled at the game’s camera system and level design. A sequel, The Suffering: Ties That Bind, was released in 2005.
