Animal Logic was founded in 1984 by Dr. Barry W. McCarthy and Dr. John J. McCarthy, both pharmacists at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). The company’s name is derived from the animal models that were used to test its early products – drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen had been developed using laboratory animals as test subjects.
Today, Animal Logic is a leading developer and manufacturer of innovative veterinary medicines for companion animals and livestock worldwide. The company has a broad product line that includes over-the-counter medications, prescription products, vaccines, diagnostics and pet food supplements. In addition to its headquarters in San Francisco, Animal Logic operates manufacturing facilities in the United States (California), Mexico (Puebla) and China (Shanghai).
