It’s been a long wait for the release of Left 4 Dead 2. The game was announced in 2009 and many were eagerly anticipating its release. However, the game has been plagued with delays. Valve, the creators of the game, initially promised a November 2009 release date. This was then pushed back to February 2010 and then again to October 2010. Now, it seems that fans will have to wait until 2011 for the game to be released.
What is causing these delays? Valve has not given a clear explanation for the hold-up. It is possible that they are trying to polish up the game as much as possible before its release. There have been some changes made since Left 4 Dead 1 such as new melee weapons and special infected types. Perhaps Valve wants to make sure that these new features work smoothly before releasing the game to the public.
Another possibility is that Valve is working on incorporating co-operative play into the Xbox 360 version of Left 4 Dead 2. This would allow players on different consoles to play together online which would certainly add an extra level of excitement to the game. However, this feature may not be ready in time for October’s planned release date so it may end up being pushed back even further.
So when can we expect Left 4 Dead 2? Unfortunately, no one can say for certain at this point but it seems likely that we will see it sometime in 2011 barring any more unexpected delays from Valve
