Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was developed by Nintendo EAD Group No. 2, which is also responsible for developing other games such as Mario Party 10 and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The game was first announced in February of this year at the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017, where it was shown off alongside Splatoon 2 and Arms.
The premise of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is that the player controls a character named Captain Toad who must navigate through a series of levels filled with obstacles and treasure to reach the end. Each level features different challenges, such as having to avoid spikes or falling rocks, while trying to collect as many coins and treasures as possible. The player can use items found in the level to help them progress, such as using a balloon to float over water or using a key to unlock doors.
One unique feature of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is that it features co-operative play between up to four players. This means that each player must work together in order to complete the level; if one member of the team falls behind, they will need another player’s help in order to catch up. In addition, players can compete against each other by completing challenging levels quickly; the first player to finish a level within set time limits will earn bonus points which they can use towards unlocking new characters or additional content for their copy of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
